BROTHERHOOD
Mohamed (Mohammed Houcine Grayaa) is deeply shaken and suspicious when his estranged eldest son Malek (Malek Mechergui) returns home from Syria to rural Tunisia with a mysterious young wife in tow.
Brotherhood has been hailed as a frontrunner for this year's Best Short Film Oscar by everyone from Indiewire to Short of The Week.
As Ian Durkin wrote on the Vimeo blog, "With stunning cinematography and natural performances, Brotherhood absorbs the viewer into the complexities of Tunisian family life, and leaves each person to decide for themselves where their allegiances lie."
Tunisian-Canadian writer/director Meryam Joobeur is apparently working on a feature version of this: we can't wait.
